West Edmonton Mall
West Edmonton Mall (WEM) is a shopping center located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It is the second-most visited mall in Canada after Toronto Eaton Center in Toronto, followed by Metrotown Mall in Burnaby, and in the world (along with Dubai Mall) in terms of total rental area.
It is the 23rd largest mall. Malls in North America overtook the Mall of America to be the largest shopping mall in the world until 2004. It is a shopping mall established by the Hermesian brothers, who immigrated from Iran in 1959. Key anchors include Hudson Bay, London Drugs, La Maison Simons, The Brick, Toyota, and Winners/HomeSense.
West Edmonton Mall has a total area of approximately 490,000 square meters (5.3 million square feet). It offers over 800 shops and services, including nine attractions, two hotels, over 100 restaurants, and parking for over 20,000 vehicles.
