The West Virginia State Farm Museum is a 50-acre plot of land dedicated to the preservation of West Virginia's early pioneer and farm life legacy. It provides as a window into the past for future generations. It has 32 buildings to see. It is self-guided, and information is available in each building. The museum is a non-profit organization that seeks volunteers, particularly groups, to assist with maintenance work and event management throughout the year. In addition, the museum's dining room and pavilions can be booked for private events. Guided tours require bookings.
The WV Farm Museum is an excellent place to learn about the life of the early pioneers who settled West Virginia. Visitors are able to tour the property's 32 buildings on their own, which include an ancient doctor's office, a rustic log church, and a small store. There is also a small collection of farm animals, some of which have been named after museum employees. Between the beginning of April and the middle of November, the museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, and guided tours can be scheduled with enough sufficient notice. Regular hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
