Willard Christopher "Will" Smith, is a rapper, producer, and musician from the United States. He was named "Hollywood's most powerful actor" by Newsweek in April 2007. Smith has received five Golden Globe nominations, two Academy Award nominations, and four Grammy nominations. Forbes magazine named Will Smith the world's most "bankable" star (an actor so charismatic that simply appearing in a film guarantees its box office success).
In the late 1980s, he was known only for his work as a rapper under the stage name The Fresh Prince. In 1990, he gradually rose to fame after starring in the popular NBC television series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which ran for 6 seasons (until 1996). After the series ended the series, he switched to acting as a movie actor and became the star of many blockbusters.
