Writing in English at University

Early on, you must develop solid academic research and writing skills in order to succeed in university and in your professional life. This online Writing in English at University course will teach you about the conventions of academic writing in English and the components and benefits of what is known as process writing. It will also help you put together your own "toolbox" of academic writing skills, as well as give you the opportunity to try out these tools and reflect on your own growth as a writer. This course fosters contemplation on discipline-specific customs; while the course covers generic skills, you will be able to apply these generic abilities to your own discipline's special demands.

Each module will include video lectures, reading assignments, quizzes, reflective self-assessment questions, and peer review exercises in which you will have the opportunity to interact with other students enrolled in the course. The course is free, and students have access to a free electronic textbook called Writing in English at University: A Guide for Second Language Writers, which was designed to complement the MOOC.
