Yato
Yato, who goes by Yaboku, his given name, is one of the three major characters in Noragami as well as one of the funniest anime characters. He is a little-known god who wants to become a Fortune God. He was formerly referred to as a God of Calamity. His tenacious efforts to build his own shrine are characterized by a mischievous optimism and a range of odd jobs that combine humor and tragedy.
Yato is prone to mischievous, abrasive, and erratic conduct. Sometimes he comes across as naive or innocent. He frequently fantasizes about being an incredibly wealthy god, complete with a lavish shrine and a horde of miko that adore him. Though he presents a lighthearted image, Yato is capable of becoming very serious when necessary. His moral code is nuanced.
Yato's colorful expressions, theatrical flair, and exaggerated responses to everyday situations enhance the series' humorous core. His interactions with other characters, particularly the human female Hiyori and his regalia, Yukine, illustrate the differences in their worldly perspectives and provide a variety of humorous situations. In addition to his profound and frequently sorrowful moments, Yato's unpredictable and playful nature creates a complex character that playfully connects with the viewer, solidifying his status as an anime's most distinctive comedic entity.
