  1. The musical team behind Fiddler on the Roof, Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick, also wrote the score for this delightful and beautifully crafted 1963 romantic comedy, adapted from the same Hungarian play that also inspired the films The Shop Around the Corner and You've Got Mail.

Featuring music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Joe Masteroff, She Loves Me tells the story of a store clerk and a salesgirl in a Hungarian parfumerie who cannot stand each other, but are unaware that they are conducting an anonymous romantic correspondence. The musical, based on Miklós László’s play Parfumerie, first opened on Broadway at the Eugene O’Neill on April 23, 1963.

Considered by many to be the most charming musical ever written, She Loves Me is a warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old-world elegance. As the New York Times wrote, "This musical is remarkably generous to all its performers: a half-dozen supporting characters are given show stoppers, too." An ideal Christmas or Valentine's Day show, this heart-warming story will be adored by your entire audience.

  2. This recording documents the musical's ground-breaking, Olivier Award-winning revival from the Regent's Park in London in 2010, which was directed by Timothy Sheader and starred Jenna Russell as the Baker's Wife, Mark Hadfield as the Baker, and Hannah Waddingham as the Witch (plus Judi Dench as the recorded voice of the Giant).

This epic adventure musical incorporates plots and characters of several Brothers Grimm fairy tales and features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine. In the first act of this 1987 classic, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine weave the stories of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and the beanstalk-climbing Jack into a witty farcical basket, held together by the tale of a baker and his wife who seek to end a witch’s curse.

Act II sees the characters' happy endings unravel into a violent mess of retribution and recrimination. With unsettling conclusions, Into the Woods examines the subjective and elective aspects of morality itself, going beyond simply rewriting the morals of its stories.

  3. Based on the wonderful 2000 movie about a boy who dreams of a life in ballet—to the bafflement and alarm of his family of miners in Northern England—Elton John and Lee Hall's 2005 musical was a sensation in the West End and on Broadway (where it won 10 Tony Awards). Stephen Daldry has thrillingly staged this uplifting tale of the underdog. The talented young actor Elliott Hanna plays the title role in this rendition, which was captured for a live cinematic broadcast at London's Victoria Palace Theatre in 2014. Ruthie Henshall plays his dance instructor.

Set in a northern English mining town against the background of the 1984 miners' strike, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of a young boy's struggle against the odds to make his dream come true. Follow Billy's journey as he stumbles out of the boxing ring and into a ballet class, where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and community... and changes his life forever.

With a powerful storyline, rousing songs, and opportunities for sensational choreography Billy Elliot is the perfect opportunity to blow audiences away. A large cast of children provides the perfect opportunity to feature dance programs in your area and let your young talent shine.

    • Carousel, one of the best musicals now on BroadwayHD, is the second musical by the team of Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein II (book and lyrics). The 1945 piece was an adaptation of Ferenc Molnár's 1909 play Liliom, moving the action from Budapest to the coast of Maine. The story revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow, whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan comes at the price of both their jobs.

To support Julie and their unborn child, he tries to commit a robbery; however, when things don't go as planned, he is given the chance to make amends. A side plot centers on the relationship between ambitious fisherman Enoch Snow and millworker Carrie Pipperidge. "If I Love You," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over," and "You'll Never Walk Alone" are a few of the well-known songs featured in the show. • The 2015 Lincoln Center Theater revival of Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic 1951 romantic drama about the cultural clash between the King of Siam and an English governess in the 1860s starred Kelli O'Hara and Ken Watanabe. Directed by Bartlett Sher, this opulent production includes gorgeous period costumes and a lush rendition of the score which includes such standards as "Hello, You Lovers," "Getting to Know You" and "Something Wonderful."

It is 1862 in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, arrives with her young son at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by those in the West, and he seeks Anna's assistance in changing his image rather than his ways. With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another in a truly unique love story. Along with the dazzling score, the incomparable Jerome Robbins ballet The Small House of Uncle Thomas is one of the all-time marvels of the musical stage.

      O'Hara

    • Elaine Stritch at Liberty, the Broadway legend's one-woman show, triumphed in New York and won a 2002 Tony Award. This double-Emmy-winning recording was made when she later took London by storm. Stritch's comic timing is impeccable and her anecdotes priceless as she talks and sings her way through fifty years in American theatre.

The pinnacle of Elaine Stritch's Broadway career, which began in the 1940s, was this solo show she co-wrote with John Lahr in 2001. Stritch had sort of always been a grumpy old showbiz lady. She was her own best character role, and her curmudgeonly, whiskey-drenched style exploded with honesty, rue and mordant wit. Filmed at the Old Vic in London and first shown by HBO in 2004, this version captures a woman ready, willing and eager to strip show business glamour down to its weary bones.

From a disastrous date with Marlon Brando to blowing her chance of starring in The Golden Girls, she is uncompromisingly honest in telling her own story and pulls no punches in recounting her struggle with drink. Sensational, poignant and incredibly funny, Stritch can still knock an audience dead.

    • Unrivaled Audra McDonald won a record-breaking sixth Tony Award for her performance as jazz icon Billie Holiday in Lanie Robertson's cabaret-style solo show, whose 14 songs include such Holiday favorites as "Don't Explain" and "God Bless the Child." Directed with restraint by Lonny Price, the show is a moving glimpse into the final days of a brilliant talent that was, by then, too frequently wasted. McDonald brings the pain as required and delivers Holiday’s broken-horn stylings with rough aplomb.

With her plush, classically trained soprano scaled down to jazz-soloist size, Ms. McDonald sings selections from Holiday’s repertoire with sensitive musicianship and rich seams of feeling that command rapt admiration. Although Ms. McDonald, a five-time Tony winner and an accomplished recitalist, has her own natural authority onstage, in this show, she submerges her identity in Holiday’s as an act of loving tribute to an artist whose difficult career exacted a painful price.

Holiday is as well known now for the grim travails of her short life — she died at the age of 44, her voice spent, her body destroyed by addiction to alcohol and heroin — as she is revered for the legacy of recordings she left behind.

    • Based on the MGM movie musical of the same name, An American Paris is "the romantic story of a young American soldier, a beautiful French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war." Heavily featuring dance, the musical employs the music of George and Ira Gershwin.

The film culminates in a ballet where the couple reunites. This dance sequence became one of the most famous in the history of the Hollywood musical and the film went on to win six Oscars. It would be nearly 65 years before a theatrical version of the musical would find its way to the stage. Vincente Minnelli directs a remarkable cast of singers, actors and dancers as they bring the magic and romance of Paris and the timeless songs of George and Ira Gershwin into perfect harmony.

    • Putting it Together is a musical revue showcasing the songs of Stephen Sondheim. It honors Sondheim's illustrious career in musical theater by taking its name from a song in Sunday in the Park with George. Putting it Together is the emotional story of the entangled relationships of five guests attending a Manhattan cocktail party as they are confronted with the troubles of marriage, infidelity and divorce

This beautiful, funny and emotionally charged musical review exposes the complicated relationships and deepest desires of two couples out for an elegant evening.
