  4. Chi-X is the latest Stock Exchange to be licensed in Australia. Chi-X Australia offers an alternative to trading on ASX providing new order types and potential for lower costs. Chi-X Australia is owned by Chi-X Global, which also operates Chi-X Canada and Chi-X Japan. It now offers a full suite of 2,100 ASX-listed companies and 230 ETFs, as well as quoting its own warrants market.


    Until very recently Chi-X Global was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Nomura Group. However, five additional financial institutions have now taken a minority stake in the company. The new owners are BofA Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, GETCO and Quantlab.
