Travnik is a pre-15th century town and municipality located in the Lava valley. It is well-known among tourists for its well-preserved Ottoman period monuments, including multiple mosques, traditional homes, and Sahat Kula, the only town with two clock towers.

Mt. Vlasic, which is located near Travnik and is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's highest peaks, has become a significant tourist destination, ideal for sports like as hiking, sledding, and skiing. Travnik is close to Bosnia and Herzegovina's geographic center. The city is bisected by the Lava River, which runs from west to east before entering Bosnia and Herzegovina.
