The Channel Islands Military Museum is housed in a former 10.5cm casemate and forms part of Hitler's Atlantic Wall defenses sitting as it does alongside the seawall. The museum is full of German militaria from the 5 long years of Occupation as well as many Civilian items of the time. Every room is bursting with the many items collected over the last 40 years by the museum's owner. This standard casemate has been turned into a time capsule for those interested in the history of our recent past.

The museum opens at 10 a.m. on April 11 and will be open 7 days a week (10 to 5) until the end of October. Mont Orgueil Castle is a mansion in Jersey overlooking the Gorey harbor. It is also known as Gorey Castle by English speakers, and lé Vièr Châté (Old Castle) by English speakers. The site was fortified in prehistoric times, but construction of the castle commenced after the division of the Duchy of Normandy in 1204. The castle is first mentioned in 1212 mentioned first. called 'Mont Orgeuil' by a decree issued by Pierre de Brézé, Lord of the Islands during the French occupation during the Wars of the Roses, in 1462.

This property has been managed by the Jersey Heritage Trust since 1994. At the beginning of the 21st century, the Foundation planned to build a Tudor hall within the castle grounds. Around the same time, a £3 million grant was awarded to finance the restoration work. In 2004, a commemorative Jersey pound note entered circulation depicting Mont Orgueil. The castle was featured on the £50 Jersey note issued in 2010.

The castle of Mont Orgueil has cast its majestic shadow over the beautiful fishing port of Gorey for more than 800 years. One of the finest examples of medieval fortresses still standing, Mont Orgueil has witnessed many of the pivotal events that have shaped Jersey's history. Mont Orgueil Castle is the second most beautiful historic site on the list of the most beautiful historical sites in Jersey.

St Catherine's Bay was a controversial choice for a harbor that would not dry up and could shelter the British Canal Fleet. Beginning in the mid-1800s, at enormous expense, only one arm of the harbor was completed. As a result of natural phenomena, changes in ship design as well as peace with France, the harbor was a failure.

While one might wonder what this part of the island looks like now after the southern branch is completed, at least the construction of the north breakwater has stood the test of time and it also offers a promenade with great views for active people as a good fishing spot for anglers.

Elsewhere in the bay, two of the round towers, built by order of General Conway (Archirondel and St Catherine's Tower), stood guard against the threat of an earlier French attack. With its rich history, St Catherine's Bay is the third most beautiful historic site on the list of the most beautiful historical sites in Jersey.

The Samarès Manor is a manor of medieval origin in the Vingtaine de Samarès, in the parish of St. Clement in Jersey, and is the traditional home of the Seigneur de Samarès. The oldest part of the house is an underground cellar believed to be a crypt dedicated to Saint Martha, dating from the 11th or 12th century. Today, the west wing of the manor sits above the basement. The original building, possibly a chapel, that once stood above the crypt is no longer there. The manor house is an H-shaped building with several Tudor arched windows on the ground floor. The round Colombier is believed to be the oldest in Jersey and may be dated to as early as the 12th century.

The present gardens were first created in the 1920s by Sir James Knott, who purchased the manor in 1924. This important work included the re-establishment of the salt marsh area near the manor.

La Hougue Bie is a historic site with a museum in Jersey's Grouville parish and the fifth most beautiful historical site. La Hougue Bie is featured on the Jersey 1 pound bill issued in 2010.

The site consists of an 18.6-meter-long passageway covered by a 12.2-meter high mound. The site was first excavated in 1925 by Société Jersiaise. Fragments of twenty urns were found along with the scattered remains of at least eight individuals. Pottery, mainly pottery, is also present. On the top of the mound were built two medieval chapels. The Channel Islands have five passage tombs with side chambers (La Hougue Bie, Faldouet and Grantez in Jersey, La Varde, and Le Déhus in Guernsey).

La Hougue Bie is a Neolithic ceremonial site used around 4000-3500 BC. In Western Europe, it is one of the largest and best-preserved passage tombs and the most impressive and best-preserved monument of the Armorican Passage Grave group. Although they are known as "passage graves", they are ceremonial sites, similar in function to churches or cathedrals, random burial places. Since the excavation and restoration of the original entrance of the passage, observations from inside the mausoleum at sunrise on the spring and autumn equinoxes have revealed that the orientation of the passage, may have been randomly allowing the sun's rays to pass through the chamber into the posterior recess of the terminal cell. Although many of the corridor tombs show evidence of continued activity into the Late Neolithic, La Hougue Bie was abandoned before that time.

La Hougue Bie offers a truly memorable experience that is immediately said to be stimulating and peaceful. The site has one of Europe's finest passage tombs, where you can learn about life in Jersey's Neolithic community 6,000 years ago. A medieval chapel sits atop a prehistoric mound and dolmen dominate this quiet and spiritual site. There is a wonderful Tea Room on site.

Battery Lothringen was a World War II shore battery in Saint Brélade, Jersey, named for SMS Lothringen, and built by the Todt Foundation for the Wehrmacht during the occupation of the Channel Islands. The first installation was completed in 1941, around the same time as the completion of the nearby Moltke Battery, in St.Ouen.

The battery is located at the end of Noirmont Point, a rocky headland overlooking St. Aubin, Elizabeth Castle, and Saint Helier's harbor. It was part of the coastal fortifications system of the Atlantic Wall, and most of the concrete structure remains to this day. The 3rd battery of the Navy 604th Artillery Battalion was stationed here.

The site overlooks La Tour de Vine's 19th-century Martello tower. This is the black and white tower that can be seen in the photo on the right. The tower is painted to serve as a daytime landmark. There is no easy walkway from the battery to the tower. Battery Lothringen is the sixth most beautiful historical site in Jersey.

Le Couperon is a Neolithic monument c.3250-2250BC in the parish of Saint Martin, Jersey. Le Couperon is a picture room about eight meters (26 feet) long that was originally a long mound that was covered. It is surrounded by an outer eight-stone needle ring, known as peristalsis.

The site was first excavated in 1868. At that time, the stones fell into the cockpit. The excavators lifted these and a rock platform in the doorway and restored the rock to what the machine trained to be in its original form. In 1919, Société Jersiaise moved the window to its position at the east end of the room. However, archaeologists believe that the vent stone may have originally been in the room, dividing it into two segments of unequal length, each with its own passageway. Found at points include several flint fragments and puzzle pieces.

The dolmens are within a few meters of the guard house Le Couperon. Le Dolmen du Couperon is the seventh most beautiful historical site in Jersey.

Strongpoint Corbière currently consists of five German WWII Fortifications found at La Corbière Point. Volunteer members attend the WWII fortifications & although CIOS members, this is not an officially recognized page. The aim is to preserve and restore these structures to how they would have been operational during the last year of WWII. The site's 5 bunkers are open to the public at select times, being the two 10.5CM coastal defense gun casemates, the M19 Fortress Mortar bunker, and the heavy machine gun sechsscharternturm bunker & the Kanalinsel Nr. 514 Personnel Shelter.

The aim is to create a 'working atmosphere', where some of the equipment is usable & you can even aim the original 10.5cm fortress gun or hold & operate deactivated machine guns! Much attention has been paid to the interior fixtures & fittings & the bunkers contain extensive displays showing how the bunkers and weapons operated together with stories about the actual soldiers who served there. Strongpoint Corbière is the eighth most beautiful historic site in Jersey.

Elizabeth Castle, built on a rocky islet in St Aubin's Bay, has stood guard over Jersey's principal seaway for more than 300 years. You can walk out along the causeway at low tide or, if you want to try something new, take the amphibious Castle Ferry at low or high tide. It's no surprise that Elizabeth Castle is Jersey's sixth most beautiful historical landmark.

Elizabeth Castle is an excellent destination to visit if you want to learn about Jersey's history. Climb the battlements, which date back to Sir Walter Raleigh's governorship of Jersey from 1600 to 1603. Explore the grounds where King Charles II sought refuge during the English Civil War, as well as the bunkers that were re-fortified to command the maritime approaches to Jersey during the German occupation during WWII. Admire the hermitage where St Helier, who lived approximately 550 A.D., is said to have lived.
