On July 21st, one could say that Guam celebrates its most important day. Banks and schools close to allow people to take to the streets and celebrate Liberation Day with parades and feasts. This is one of the most famous festivals in Guam.
The Japanese army conquered the island in 1941 and ruled it for three years. The Chamorro people regarded this to be Guam's darkest years. The Americans rescued the population and regained the island in 1944, prompting a celebration of the people's independence known as "Liberation Day."
Liberation Day is commemorated for a week with celebrations, carnivals, and feasts. Around the island's villages, there are also week-long fireworks displays. There are big parades and floats, such as the Guam Liberation Day procession, which starts at Marine Corps Drive Adeup and concludes at the Paseo de Hagata, as well as other forms of entertainment in Hagata, such as concerts and parties (capital of Guam). The American military takes part in the procession with a spectacular display of colors.

Another prominent and famous Guam holiday is the Malojloj Fiesta or Coconut Festival, which takes place in May in the town of Inarajan. It's a three-day celebration in honor of St. Joseph. Food, music, dancing, drinking, and partying in the streets are all part of the celebration. The event praises the coconut for maintaining life on the island, as it provides food, shelter, trade, clothing, and medicine.
Inarajan's first Coconut Festival took place in 1948 and lasted for six years. In 2010, the Historic Inarajan Foundation reintroduced the celebration in conjunction with the village's yearly fiesta commemorating Saint Joseph or San Jose, the village's patron saint.
Neighbors and families in Inarajan's historic quarter had a huge fiesta to commemorate San Jose. As hundreds of people pack front yards and porches from St. Joseph Church to Gadao's Cave, music can be heard. Partygoers crowd the streets as they make their way from family gatherings to the Gef Pa'go Cultural Village along the beach to check out the Coconut Festival's merchants, tours, and cultural activities.

The Chamorro Lunar Calendar Festival is one of the most famous festivals in Guam, and it commemorates the Chamorro culture, which the residents strive to preserve and promote. The event also strives to provide both locals and tourists a better understanding of the local culture. Because everyone is welcome, all of these events are one big party for both locals and tourists.
The festival will feature Chamorro-themed exhibits, displays, demonstrations, and entertainment. Local artisans will demonstrate their talents, provide opportunities for learning, and sell culturally created things. Through chanting, song, and movement, cultural artists will give continual visual stimulation and enjoyment.
On Chamorro Lunar Calendar Festival, local farmers and fishermen will demonstrate their skills by offering samples of their crops and meals for sale. We encourage people to "Buy Local." The event will highlight recycling, with AK AC/Delco providing a battery buy-back drop-off location.
