    Navruz

The oldest ancient national festival, Navruz ("Holiday Navruz"), translates to "new day" in Persian. Navruz, which is celebrated on March 21st, is regarded as the start of the new year. The 21st of March is known as the spring equinox. The day and night lengths are the same — 12 hours. The Earth enters the World astronomical equivalence on March 21st. Even now, seasons on different hemispheres differ; in the southern hemisphere, fall arrives, while in the northern hemisphere, spring arrives. This festival is observed during the start of spring, when all plants and trees bloom and take on a new springform. Many Uzbek families cook traditional foods like Sumalak, Halim, Somsa from plants, Pilov, and others before the start of this festival. These Uzbek recipes contain a variety of vitamin compounds that are beneficial to the human body.

With the country's independence, traditional Uzbek customs and traditions have been revived, as has the holiday Navruz, and celebrations have taken on new meaning and depth. It became a national festival of friendship, unity, and universal brotherhood. Its role in national history is seen in the brilliant theatrical portrayals of Navruz's philosophic and lyrical judgment. Navruz is now celebrated on Alisher Navoi's square on an annual basis.

Songs are sung, costumes are worn, dance acts are performed, storytellers and other traditional activities are held during this event, which maintains its authenticity despite the passage of time.

  4. The Sharq Taronalari, or Eastern Melodies Festival, is one of the most important cultural festivals in Central Asia. It is held every two years at the end of August in the open-air heart of Samarkand, in the majestic Registan Square. Sharq Taronalri 2015 will take place in Samarkand on August 25 and will last through August 30. The soaring portals of Registan's three great madrassas, adorned in shimmering turquoise tiles, surround the square, providing amazing acoustics.

This event began in 1997 on President Islam Karimov's initiative, intending to promote cultural exchange by bringing together gifted and talented singers, dancers, and musicians from around the world to share their regional and ethnic musical talents. Sharq Taronalari, which is supported by UNESCO, is the best platform for promoting Uzbekistan's and Central Asia's cultural legacy. Throughout the five-day festival, the historical significance of Samarkand, its strategic location along the Silk Road, and its architectural treasure trove are highlighted alongside dazzling performances.

Fasting over a long period of time and then suddenly having a large feast day is a distinguishing element of Eid al-Fitr, which is similar to how Roman Catholics and certain Protestants celebrate Easter following a 40-day Lenten fast.

This year's Ramadan and Eid experience is one-of-a-kind. Each country is commemorated in its own unique way. Uzbekistan is one of the countries where the Ulema Council has made suggestions on how to celebrate Eid this year. Uzbekistan has a population of 34 million people, with Muslims constituting 88 percent of the population. Fasting for Ramadan is known as "Sawm" and is one of Islam's Five Pillars. It is as much a test of willpower as anything else, and the Eid celebrations that follow are a reward for the faithful. Ramadan is a test of self-control, but Eid al-Fitr is a celebration of joy, accomplishment, and thanksgiving.

  6. Qurbon Hayit, a Moslem religious feast, is one of the most religious festivals in the world. The origins of this celebration may be traced back to prophet Ibrohim, who, in honor of his faith, wanted to sacrifice his own son to "Allah," but his acts caused kind spirits to intervene and tell him to sacrifice other animals such as sheep, camels, and so on. Since then, all Moslems have been sacrificing animals throughout these holidays.

The celebration lasts three days, and on these days, all Moslems celebrate with their families, natives, and close friends. During the holidays, people visit relatives and friends, as well as those who are ill and in need of assistance. The first day of the holiday Qurbon Hayit is not regarded as a working day, and all establishments are closed on this day.

    Yillar

Another one on our list of the most famous festivals in Uzbekistan is Yillar. This is Uzbek Christmas, which is celebrated in a manner similar to that of other countries around the world. Fir trees are decorated, gifts are distributed, and Santa Claus himself may appear in some regions.

One of the Uzbeks' distinguishing features is their legendary hospitality. Nowadays, it is a component of extremely old and valued practices, with hospitality being a very significant guideline. Discourteousness toward a guest was once considered a disgrace to the family and the entire town. Even if the visitor was a foe. This ancient practice continues to this day, causing the Uzbek people to act with remarkable correctness and respect.
