Winston Bernard Coard, a politician from Grenada, was the deputy prime minister of the People's Revolutionary Government of the New Jewel Movement (born 10 August 1945). He is one of the most important historical figures in Grenada. Within the revolutionary government, Coard staged a coup and held onto power for three days before being overthrown by General Hudson Austin.

Coard became interested in politics as a young man, and in 1962 he teamed up with Bishop to found the Grenada Assembly of Youth After Truth. Bishop and Cord moderated discussions on current issues twice a month at Grenada's Central Market Square.

Coard spent two years as a teacher in London. How the West Indian Child is Made Educationally Subnormal in the British School System was the title of the book he released in 1971. Coard relocated to Trinidad after receiving his degree and worked as a professor at the University of the West Indies there. Additionally, he gave a guest lecture at St. Augustine's Institute of International Relations.

Coard returned to Grenada in 1976, quickly got involved in politics, and joined the NJM, an organization started by his childhood buddy Maurice Bishop.

Politician Peter David is from Grenada and was born in 1957. He attended Essex University and Carleton University for his studies.

In the general election of November 2003, David ran for office in the Town of St. George as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

David was re-elected from the Town of St. George in the general election that was conducted on July 8, 2008. David was appointed Minister of Tourism and Foreign Affairs in the new NDC Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, and sworn in on July 13, 2008, after the NDC gained a majority of seats in this election. After that, he was the Minister of Tourism until April 30, 2012, when he announced his resignation from the Cabinet. After the New National Party (NNP) won the 2013 general election by a landslide, David afterwards joined the NNP and was named a Government Senator in the Grenada Senate.

In the 2018 general election, David ran successfully for the New National Party (NNP) in the Town of St. George seat. In the administration headed by Keith Mithcell, he was named Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Iris Bannochie (Iris Bayley), a Barbadian horticulturist who lived from 1914 to 1988, was the foremost authority on horticulture on the island of Barbados.

Scientist Iris Bayley, who learned science on her own, produced the authoritative account of the unique embryology of the whistling frog, which lacks a tadpole stage. Many severely ill children were being treated by Harry Bayley at his hospital, and he found that in many of these cases, "the kid had acquired a cold and was given Bush Tea to make them better." Iris was sent to Barbados to look into Bush Teas. Her work is still often cited. It revealed that the majority of "Barbados Bush Teas" were extremely poisonous and might kill kids. She also released studies on the Barbadian cherry's vitamin C concentration. She was a founder member of the Barbados National Trust, chairman of the Parks and Beaches Commission (and its successor, the National Conservation Commission), as well as the longtime president of both the Barbados Orchid Circle and the Barbados Horticultural Society (BHS). She spent her time traveling the globe gathering rare and exquisite plants, and she led the BHS to several gold and silver medals at the International Flower and Orchid Show and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London. She received the Veitch Memorial Medal in 1977 from the Royal Horticultural Society in recognition of her work in tropical gardening.

From 2008 until 2013, Grenada's Prime Minister was the politician Tillman Thomas. From 2000 until 2014, he served as the National Democratic Congress's (NDC) president.

In Hermitage, St. Patrick, Grenada, Thomas was born. Under Prime Minister Maurice Bishop, he spent two years behind bars. His involvement in the Human Rights and Legal Aid Programme with Maurice Bishop, the founder of the New Jewel Movement, marked the beginning of his political career in 1978.

From December 1984 until 1990, Thomas served as a Junior Minister in the Ministry of Legal Affairs after being elected to the House of Representatives from the St. Patrick East seat. He joined the NDC in 1987 and served as the organization's assistant general secretary from 1987 to 1990. Despite losing the 1990 election in St. Patrick East, Thomas was still appointed as a Junior Minister in the Ministry of Labour. He was thereafter assigned to the position of Minister in the Works and Tourism Ministries.

On July 13, 2008, Thomas' 17-member cabinet was sworn in at the National Stadium. Thomas accepted the positions of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Attorney General, Minister of National Security, Minister of Information, and Minister of Public Administration.

Grenada's governor general from 1978 to 1992 was a politician from Grenada named Paul Scoon. He is one of the most important historical figures in Grenada. His administration is remembered for the chaotic events surrounding the emergence and collapse of the People's Revolutionary Government, as well as for his participation in and support of the Grenada invasion.

On July 4, 1935, Scoon was born in Gouyave, a city on Grenada's west coast. The Grenada Boys' Secondary School was his next stop after St. John's Anglican School. Then, before continuing on to study at the University of Leeds in England and earning an M.Ed. at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Soon got an external degree from the University of London.

On the recommendation of the Prime Minister, Sir Eric Gairy, Scoon was chosen by Queen Elizabeth II to serve as the Governor-General of Grenada in 1978. But the New Jewel Movement, led by Bernard Coard and Hudson Austin, two of Scoon's and Bishop's old students, deposed Gairy in an almost bloodless revolution the year after.

The extremists first detained Scoon, but he was quickly freed when they apologized. The insurgents wished to maintain Grenada's constitutional monarchy and the Governor-role General's as the country's official representative of Queen Elizabeth II. Even though Bishop's communist administration adhered to Marxist-Leninist ideas, Scoon and Bishop were able to preserve a semi-normal working relationship. The revolutionaries saw Scoon as a helpful figurehead who would assist their connections with Canada and the United Kingdom as well as smooth over worldwide recognition for their new rule. Even though he was displeased that some of his rights had been restricted, Scoon was glad to continue serving as president and maintaining some stability in the situation. While playing tennis with Bishop, he upheld his discretionary reputation.
