Harry Potter is unmistakably the protagonist of the series with the same name. However, what's special about this boy that inspires such adoration among his fans? Is it merely because he is the protagonist? Or is it more?

Apart from being the story's protagonist, what makes Harry so unique? To some extent, it is because he is a genuine underdog. He not only has to face the mundane concerns of life and discover that he is a wizard, but he also has to combat Voldemort, the Wizarding World's greatest evil. Also, the whole good vs. evil conflict endears viewers to Harry. Everybody wants to be associated with those that are on the right side of history. It makes the readers feel warm and happy, which is a pleasant sensation.

"I took care not to make Harry flawless," J.K Rowling said. Nobody loves a character that is without defects, since they lack authenticity. Harry is unmistakably realistic, which is why people like him. Harry's weaknesses are his temper and his tendency to disregard his friends' advice. He makes errors, which only adds to his appeal and importance as a character. The more relatable Harry Potter is, the more fans will identify with him.

We all know Hermione Granger was the smartest witch of her generation, but what makes her the most memorable and essential female character in the novels for all Harry Potter fans around the world? While Harry Potter is undoubtedly the novel's hero, Hermione was almost as much of a hero herself.

From the outset, Hermione established herself as the group's geek. She was regarded as slightly hated and somewhat obnoxious. True, she was a sage, but what's the harm in that? This self-assured demeanor was entirely justified. She had an intelligence that was unmatched by anybody else in the series; it was often remarked and well-documented.

Furthermore, she decided to bring about one of the most significant sacrifices in the novels: deleting her parents' memory and taking them away to safety. She selflessly sacrificed only one thing Harry had always desired - a family – to aid him in saving the world. Yes, it was to protect her mother and father, but she had no way of knowing at the time whether she could ever meet them again. Harry was born exceptional, but Hermione Granger created her own heroism.

At first, we learn about Severus Snape as a renowned Potions Master. He is clearly a gifted individual who is well aware of his abilities. As the plot unfolds through the novels, the fifth Harry Potter book reveals two other powers that this tormented professor has - Occlumency and Legilimens.

For those unfamiliar with the Harry Potter lexicon, when a wizard learns these abilities, he has the ability to shield his mind from external assaults. Most impressively, he can even enter the other person's mind and thoroughly read it. Moreover, the whole series demonstrates Severus's "enthusiasm" for the Dark Arts through his persistent attempts to receive the position of A Defense Against Dark Arts professor.

While J.K. Rowling depicted professor Snape as a ghost that hides in the dark, a strong embodiment of power, he is just a simple human at the end of the day – and an imperfect one at that. He is not entirely capable of expressing facial expressions, save when displaying revulsion at the appearance of Harry. Still he has very powerful emotions that help him to envision and eventually achieve his goals. This fact drew readers' attention to Severus Snape more than anything else.

Draco Malfoy is similarly constrained by fate as Harry is. Yet unlike Harry, Draco was brought up with an arrogance implanted in him. Draco lives in a world that is profoundly dark, both in terms of the magic he favors and the emotional toll it has on a young lad. Draco had grown up hearing tales about Harry Potter - especially allegations of his skill as a Dark wizard - since his early years were characterized by his family's tragedy.

Draco first extends a warm welcome to Harry due to these stories. Also, he knows that his dad would embrace a pure-blood warrior with abilities comparable to Voldemort's. However, his efforts to befriend Harry fails. And for Draco, Harry's rejection cements his position as an adversary, since he realizes his father's expectations are misplaced.

However, it is his attitude toward others that exemplifies Draco's malice. From his torments on poor Neville to his snide remarks about the Weasleys, labeling Hermione Granger a Mud Blood and driving Buckbeak to death, it is safe to say Draco Malfoy is not a kind person. Still, as J.K. Rowling demonstrates, he has some 'unextinguished good.' We begin to get glimpses of it as he develops throughout the story.

Sirius Black was, in many respects, a lonely wolf – or, more precisely, a lonely dog. He lived alone for most of the series. Sirius's alienation from others was undoubtedly caused by his imprisonment in Azkaban. Yet, some plotlines reveal that his family members left him feeling alienated even before that.

Sirius broke the Black family tradition by becoming a Gryffindor rather than Slytherin, as all of his family members were. This immediately distinguished him as unusual. His Gryffindor status – combined with a substantially more compassionate nature – led to a cold war between Sirius and his own family. Sirius's dissatisfaction with Grimmauld Place - the mansion where he spent the most of his early years - contributed to the emergence of his more bitter side. He made no apologies for the fact that he did not enjoy his youth.

Sirius Black demonstrated to us that one's biological family does not necessarily have to be one's actual family. He eventually discovered kinfolk in Harry Potter's dad and Remus Lupin. Sirius taught Harry a great deal, but one of the most significant lessons he taught Harry was that, even if you don't have a blood family relationship, you could still find one in the shape of your friends.

While Harry Potter had his own love storyline, it was generally assumed that Ron and Hermione would eventually end up together. As they are two members of the famous golden trio, Harry Potter readers witnessed several scenes between Hermione and Ron over time that discreetly demonstrated their relationship's evolution. Ron's response to Hermione's schoolgirl infatuation with Gilderoy Lockhart is worth recalling. Or that time, when he defended Hermione against Snape's 'insufferable know-it-all' insult, is also memorable.

Or... well, you get the picture. The idea is that Ron and Hermione's connection was a story of best friends finding their love for each other via sweet events. And it was those simple moments that cemented our affection for Ron Weasley in the same way that Dumbledore did for sherbet lemons.

When compared to Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, it is easy to understand why Ron Weasley felt undervalued. Harry was often regarded as the courageous one, while Hermione as the intelligent one, and finally, Ron as the amusing one. Though Ron was in fact quite entertaining, he was also capable of being as courageous as Harry and as intelligent as Hermione.

Remus Lupin excelled in almost everything. He had good grades at Hogwarts, was appointed a prefect, assisted in the creation of the extraordinarily detailed and magical Marauder's Map, and was capable of casting a Patronus easily.

Apart from being an accomplished magician, one of Remus's greatest talents was helping others realize their potential. He was regarded as the finest DADA instructor that Harry and his peers at Hogwarts had ever had. By the time Lupin departed from Hogwarts, Harry was proficient in the use of sophisticated protection charms. Without Remus Lupins as a mentor, would Harry Potter have been an Auror?

Remus Lupin eventually left his wife and their son Teddy to go and serve at Hogwarts war, in order to provide a better life for his family. He wanted to save his kid from a world ruled by Voldemort. When Harry Potter used his Resurrection Stone, Remus appeared among Harry's recently-deceased loved ones. Remus addressed Harry about his newborn baby, saying, 'I am sad as well… Regrettably, I will never meet him... but he will understand why I died. I was attempting to create a world that would give him happiness.'

When you consider all of the incredible characters introduced in the Harry Potter books, it's very overwhelming. You had Harry, the courageous leader; you might call him the Chosen One. Ron was the endearing, dependable best friend that we all want. Of course, Hermione was the role model that all bookworms aspired to be. Even when we think of courage, Neville Longbottom comes to mind

Luna Lovegood is a very underappreciated figure in general. She was just as devoted to Harry Potter as any other, more famous character. She was fearless in her valor, and she was not ashamed to be anything other than herself. Indeed, actress Evanna Lynch was just so moved by Luna that she personally wrote to author J.K Rowling to express her feelings for Luna. Luna Lovegood's personality strength ultimately assisted the actress in overcoming an eating disorder and securing the part of Luna in the film.

You have to give her credit; she was rather inspirational, especially for a supporting, lesser-known character. Luna Lovegood could certainly teach the rest of us a couple of things about self-confidence.

Neville Longbottom struggled badly in his Hogwarts classes. We all know how our hearts ache every time Severus Snape treated him badly in Potions. However, Neville had an extraordinary ability for herbal medicine. We couldn't have been more delighted to learn that he had eventually become a Herbology lecturer — it was the ideal career choice for him.

We secretly like Neville's lack of coordination — it surely contributed to the story's brighter parts. Whether Neville tripped over a chair on his walk to the Sorting Hat, broke his wrist during his first flying lesson, smashed teacups in Divination, or melted Seamus's cauldron in Potions, it just added to his relatability.

When we met Neville Longbottom for the first time, he did not strike us as a risk taker or a rule breaker. Indeed, at times it appeared as though the poor kid was straining every ounce of focus simply to get by without major mishaps or catastrophes. He most certainly did not seem to have the time or space to contemplate mayhem or mischief. Nonetheless, Neville matured over the book, and by the last chapters, he had grown into a powerful leader - one with a rebellious streak.

Some fans of the Harry Potter books dislike Voldemort due to his nasty nature. Nonetheless, many readers still appreciate the lengths to which Rowling went in order to create such a monstrous character.

To begin, Voldemort was not the same person he is now at the beginning of the tale. Tom Marvolo Riddle was his real name. Tom's mother, Merope, had been a sorceress from a humble background. One day, she discovered an incredibly gorgeous guy called Tom Riddle. Merope then concocted a love potion in order to seduce Tom Riddle. They eventually married, and Merope got pregnant with Riddle's son, later called Tom Marvolo Riddle.

Merope ultimately stopped giving her husband the love potion, and the man was so terrified of Merope that he fled during her pregnancy. In the end, Merope was pronounced dead during delivery. Tom Marvolo Riddle became estranged from everyone else as a result of his father's departure. He grew up without parents, and spent his life at an orphanage. Tom Marvolo Riddle then developed into a manipulative, endearing, and clever young guy as he got older. He never desired friendship, was never in love, and was perfectly content with solitude. As time passed, he turned into the famous Lord Voldemort that we are familiar with today.
