A destination for history buffs

Greece is a land steeped in millennial culture and history. A place shaped by the past, which can be seen and felt practically everywhere you go. Not just in Athens, as many believe, but throughout the city. There are historical mysteries and riches on each of the islands, and residents are eager to show them to visitors.

Old communities, ruins, windmills, but also magnificent castles, museums, and archaeological sites from every era. It can be difficult to decide what to see when there is so much to see. Of course, a visit to Athens is unique, but cultural opportunities abound all year, not just in the summer. Exhibitions, museums, and art galleries are popular among Greeks.

If you visit on May 18th, Greece celebrates International Museum Day by opening all of the country's museums to the public for free. Traditions, however, are a part of Greece's rich history. Even if you visit a remote mountain village, take the time to observe how people bake, cook, and brew. These daily chores carry traditions and habits, and they are part of a culture passed down from generation to generation.
