Acura
Acura ranks 3rd on the list of the Best Japanese Luxury Car Brands. Acura is the luxury and performance branch of Japanese carmaker Honda, based mostly in North America. On March 27, 1986, the brand debuted, marketing luxury and performance automobiles. Acura was among the best-selling luxury marques in the United States in its early years, outselling established names like BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
Acura released new models in the early 2000s, including the company's first all-original SUV, the MDX, and two models that succeeded the Integra coupé and sedan, the RSX and TSX, respectively. During that decade, Type-S versions of the RSX, CL, and TL were added to the brand's lineup. The Acura RL flagship introduced SH-AWD, a torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system, in 2005. The 2007 RDX, a crossover SUV, was the first vehicle in North America to use a turbocharged Honda engine. In 2016, a second-generation NSX was introduced, with a twin-turbocharged mid-engine, a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission, and Sport Hybrid SH-AWD.
