Lexus
Lexus is the luxury vehicle division of the Japanese automaker Toyota. Lexus is Japan's best-selling premium car brand, with vehicles sold in more than 90 countries and territories worldwide. In terms of market value, it is one of the top ten Japanese global brands. Lexus is based in Nagoya, Japan. The operational centers are in Brussels, Belgium, and Plano, Texas, in the United States.
Lexus cars are mostly manufactured in Japan, with production concentrating in the Chbu and Kysh areas, namely at Toyota's Tahara, Aichi, Chbu, and Miyata, Fukuoka, Kysh facilities. The first Lexus made outside of the country, the Canadian-built RX 330, went on sale in 2003. Lexus began operating its own design, engineering, and manufacturing facilities following a business reorganization from 2001 to 2005.
Lexus has expanded sales outside of its major market, the United States, during the 2000s. In 2005, the division opened dealerships in the Japanese domestic market, becoming the first Japanese premium automobile manufacturer to do so. Since then, the company has made its debut in Southeast Asia, Latin America, Europe, and other continents, and has produced hybrid vehicles in a variety of markets.
