Alibaba
Alibaba is an e-commerce corporation that provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer, and business-to-business sales services through an electronic portal. The group also provides electronic payment services, shopping search engines and cloud computing services, founded in 1999 by Jack Ma and headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.
Alibaba.com is also a GlobalTrade.net partner site with the US Department of Commerce. In 2012, two of Alibaba's portals processed 1.1 trillion yuan ($170 billion) in sales. The company mainly operates in the People's Republic of China. On September 19, 2014, Alibaba Group officially issued shares for the first time on the New York Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of 231 billion USD, higher than Amazon and eBay combined. As of September 2014, Alibaba Group has 20,000 employees and 90 offices worldwide.
