Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. In 2017, Toyota's corporate structure included 364,445 employees worldwide. As of September 2018, it is the sixth largest company in the world by revenue. As of 2017, Toyota is the largest automaker. Toyota is the first automaker in the world to produce more than 10 million vehicles a year, which it has done since 2012, when it also reported production of its 200 millionth vehicle. As of July 2014, Toyota is the largest listed company in Japan by market capitalization.
Toyota is the world market leader in hybrid electric vehicle sales and one of the largest companies promoting hybrid vehicle adoption globally. Toyota is also the market leader in hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Cumulative global sales of hybrid passenger car models from Toyota and Lexus hit the 10 million mark in January 2017. The company's Prius family of vehicles is the world's best-selling hybrid nameplate with over 6 million vehicles sold worldwide as of January 2017.
