McDonald's
McDonald's is a fast-food restaurants chain with approximately 38,695 restaurants in 119 countries serving its own branded products to 43 million customers per day. This is the largest chain of fast food restaurants in the world. The company was first founded in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice ("Mick & Mack") McDonald. The foundation of today's successful business was acquired by Ray Kroc from the McDonald brothers and developed into one of the most successful fast food ventures in the world.
The classic McDonald's business model is that the corporation owns the land at the locations where McDonald's restaurants are located and capture a substantial portion of its total revenue from the rental payments paid by McDonald's franchisees. These rents grew by 26% between 2010 and 2015, representing a fifth of the group's total revenue during that period.
