An American Werewolf in London
"An American Werewolf in London" follows the story of two young American tourists, David Kessler (played by David Naughton) and Jack Goodman (played by Griffin Dunne), who are backpacking through the English countryside. As the moon rises, the two friends find themselves lost on the moors.
Suddenly, they are attacked by a large, ferocious creature. Jack is killed in the brutal attack, and David is wounded but saved when the villagers intervene and shoot the creature dead. However, they refuse to answer David's questions about the beast that attacked them.
David wakes up in a London hospital with little memory of the attack. He is haunted by vivid and disturbing dreams and is visited by a decaying and ghostly Jack, who warns him that he is now a werewolf and will transform into a full beast when the next full moon comes. Jack informs David that he can only be set free from this curse if he kills himself before the next transformation.
"An American Werewolf in London" showcases the horrors of the unknown and the internal struggles of its protagonist with a touch of humanity and compassion. It remains a classic not only for its light-hearted blend of horror and humor, but also for the exploration of identity, fear, and the complexity of human emotions in the face of extraordinary circumstances.
