It was founded in 2006 as a result of the acquisition and amalgamation of Arcelor with Indian-owned Mittal Steel. It is placed 197th among the world's largest firms in the 2022 Fortune Global 500. It employs 200,000 people directly and indirectly and has a market capitalization of $25 billion. The total asset value of the corporation is believed to be around $100 billion.
