Architectural Record
Architectural Record is a monthly architectural and interior design magazine published in the United States. "The Record", as it is commonly known, is largely regarded as an essential historical record of the developing disputes in architectural practice, history, and criticism in the United States during the twentieth century. BNP Media presently publishes the magazine. Architectural Record has engaged readers among architecture, engineering, and design professionals for 125 years with articles exhibiting notable architectural projects from throughout the world. The breadth of material is defined by divisions such as news, opinion, critique, and continuing education. The glossy, high-quality images of featured projects stand out, giving the publication a larger readership than just those in the design professions.
Architectural Record hosts an annual awards program called Record Houses. An editorial jury selects the winning projects, which are then published in the magazine. "Projects that include innovation in the program, building technology, materials, and form" are given priority. Design Vanguard, which debuted in 2000, is an annual feature in which Architectural Record highlights new firms from across the world "that are displaying imaginative methods to altering the built environment".
Architectural Record launched its "Women in Architecture Forum and Awards" program in 2014 "to highlight pioneering women pushing the frontiers of innovation and originality in design". Each year, the five awardees are divided into five categories: Design Leader, New Generation Leader, Innovator, Activist, and Educator. Architectural Records also provides market evaluations for current trends and new goods, and digital copies are available on their website.
