This $450 chocolate bar pays homage to both traditional Ecuadorian chocolate and its most celebrated artist, Oswaldo Guayasamin. Art Series Guayasamin is a 77 percent cacao duality blend with flavors of wood, caramel, tobacco, and honey, as well as earthy toffee notes on the finish.

The Heirloom Nacional cacao used in this chocolate is on the verge of extinction, but with the remaining seeds, many are attempting to revive the nearly 5,000-year-old chocolate tradition.

The Guayasamin drawing on the box of this chocolate depicts an indigenous Ecuadorian man who has been cruelly beaten and misshapen, but who is bent over to plant a new tree. This exemplifies not only a national identity of adversity, but also of resilience.
