Artspace

Artspace launched in 1983 as an artist-run contemporary art space committed to the critical display of contemporary and experimental work. Artspace relocated in 1992 to its current location at the Gunnery in Woolloomooloo, a site known for its rich history as a former naval facility and later in the 1970s as an artists' squat that hosted studios, performances, and exhibitions to meet an ever-increasing for space by artists.

Since then, Artspace has established itself as a leading center for the creation and presentation of visual arts in an expanded field, with a focus on new work. Artspace encourages new ideas, taking risks, and experimenting across all of its platforms.
