Brett Whiteley Studio
The Brett Whiteley Studio, located down a residential street in Surry Hills, seems like a hidden gem. Brett Whitely was one of Australia's most well-known artists of his time in Australia. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, he lived in his studio for five years, and you'll be able to see his work as well as his living area upstairs in the gallery.
Whiteley's sketchbooks, photographs, music collection, and personal memorabilia are on exhibit at the Studio, giving glimpses into his private world. There is a small shop selling postcards, posters, and other souvenirs. The Studio does not have a café, but visitors are welcome to return on the same day after refreshing at one of the many nearby cafes and restaurants. The Brett Whiteley Studio is managed by the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
