Bacchus Bar
The bar is located on one of Birmingham's oldest streets, on the basement floor of the Burlington Arcade, a complex of hotels and stores in the heart of the city. This bar, which dates back to 1398, has embraced the historical theme of the area and ran with it.
It's a bit like walking through an Ikea store through the ages as you go into Bacchus. You start with Greek and Roman mosaics and frescoes, and then you're suddenly surrounded by armor and medieval archways. You may have a drink in the genteel Georgian 'library' or duck into the stunning Egyptian room with its golden tomb paintings here. Drinks include a variety of real ales from throughout the UK, as well as your standard commercial beers and wines, but it's the novelty factor that sets Bacchus apart from the competition.
