Barsana
When it comes to the best place to celebrate Holi in India, Barsana is the cannot-ignore name. Considering this event as one of the biggest Hindu festivals, Barsana is characterized by great pomp and show as well as special zeal. Specifically, this destination is well-known for its 'Lathmar Holi' celebration, which honors the couple Radha and Krishna.
Annually, it is held with the traditional vigor where a huge number of foreign tourists participate. The Radha Rani temple was filled with devotees who took part in this party, special with the women wielding batons 'playfully' hitting the men to drive them away. Then, the men protect themselves by carrying the lathis with wooden shields and turbans. This virtually is a repeat of Krishna's visit to Barsana to spray colors on his beloved, and then Radha happily hits him with sticks. That story has inspired a large number of people to celebrate their love in a very different way and give the atmosphere a festive look and energetic excitement.
