Hampi
Even though Holi is not widely celebrated in the Southern part of India, Hampi, or 'City of Ruins', still drenches itself in colors on this event. Having a long history of mythology and heritage, this place is best well-known for its stunning Vijayanagara ruins and temples, as well as its distinctive rocky landscape. Therefore, its Holi celebration is worth participating in.
In terms of people, they often celebrate this day by drumming and dancing with zeal. Dressing in white leave their home to brighten up their neighborhood, they color every piece of cloth and color their faces themselves. Then they gather along the banks of the Tungabhadra River. The vibrant environment, free-flowing colors, music, and dance, all combine together to create a festive wave that draws many from all parts of the world.
The day of Holi in Hampi becomes a beautiful sight of people splashing colors and dancing to drum beats against the backdrop of the ruins of the Vijayanagar empire. Its mesmerizing landscape is interspersed with lots of ruins and temples, followed by the watercolor drenching of people.
