Beverly Wilshire
The lavish decor of this Beverly Wilshire, made famous by its appearance in Pretty Woman, evokes the majesty of 19th-century France, but modern touches like free WiFi and a restaurant designed by Richard Meier give it a 21st-century elegance. This hotel is housed in a magnificent Italian Renaissance structure that dates back to 1928. The stone exterior of the building has beautiful ornamental scenes etched onto it.
Nowhere is that more clear than in Beverly Wilshire's Michelin-starred restaurant, CUT, a steakhouse built to impress: roasted Kurobuta pork chop and charcoal-grilled Porterhouse are just a couple of the dishes served in the stunning, all-white dining room, which doesn't feel out of place in Soho. With spacious, cushioned seats and a cozy brasserie atmosphere, another restaurant, BLVD, is more laid-back. For a pre- or post-dinner martini, both restaurants include seductive lounge spaces.
Another feature is the unusual scallop-shaped pool, which makes a lovely setting for a business lunch or a relaxing spot to while away an afternoon with some headphones and a nice book. There is a full arsenal of cardio and weight training equipment in the bi-level gym, which is one of the biggest in any hotel in Los Angeles. Beverly Wilshire also has yoga sessions and private fitness coaches available. Elvis himself resided here for a while, and other A-listers and heads of state frequent the full-service spa, personal shopping, and private helicopter tours (not included in the cost).
