Especially in Rio de Janeiro, people will go to the beach to watch the fireworks. Each Brazilian will come together to dress in pure white - their lucky color for tradition and watch the beautiful, splendid fireworks display at the beach.

In a great feast of lights and throbbing sounds, people will come together to pray for good wishes. Some people even jump the waves and throw fresh flowers into the sea to welcome the new year. After that, they will gather with relatives and friends to enjoy the sacred moment in grand parties throughout the night. The preparations for the New Year's party usually begin on the morning of December 31 of the old year and by the middle of the night, fireworks start to explode. The light party lasts about 30 minutes and during that time, people pray for New Year's wishes such as money, love, health.
