Bustling Cities & Towns
Your vacation wouldn’t be complete without taking some time to explore its urban locations. Like most African countries that were once under colonial rule, Uganda has its share of architecture reflecting that era in its history. The nation's capital city and two other significant cities show the modernity that has taken over the country in recent years.
The traditional location of the administrative hub of the previous Buganda kings is now occupied by Kampala, the country's capital. The city's five distinct neighborhoods can be explored: Central, Lubaga (or Rubaga), Kawempe, Makindye, and Nakawa. The city also demonstrates its commitment to religious tolerance by offering a variety of sites of worship that you might visit while on your trip if just to take in their beauty.
The town of Entebbe, which is situated on the shores of the well-known Lake Victoria, is another great place to spend some time. You will land at Entebbe International Airport, which acts as the main entrance point into the country if you travel directly into Uganda for your safari vacation. Before visiting the animal parks, you can relax in the town's serene surroundings, or you can go there in the days before your departure to unwind.
The third largest town in Uganda, Fort Portal, is situated at the base of the Rwenzori Mountains. Enjoy the stunning natural splendor of this city, which is surrounded by farms that are growing fruits, vegetables, and other commodities, as well as rolling tea plantations.
