Hiking & Climbing The Mountains
If you love highland trekking, hiking, and mountain climbing to take in their natural beauty, you should consider places like Mount Gahinga, Mount Muhavura, Mount Sabinyo, Mount Elgon, and the Rwenzori Mountains Of The Moon in your travel plans. The terrain of Mount Elgon, a beautiful area close to the Kenya-Uganda border, was formed by volcanic volcanoes 24 million years ago. There are now five major peaks in this park in Uganda that you can sign up to climb.
The challenging aspect of climbing the peaks in this park is that you don't need to be an expert mountaineer or have any unique abilities. The treks are not particularly difficult, and the pathways provide breathtaking views of the surrounding area as well as chances to see a variety of animals and birds. You might be fortunate enough to see three of Africa's Big Five here. The reserve also has a remarkable variety of plant life, which your guide will present to you along the walk while you take in the scenery of the reserve's lovely rivers, cascading waterfalls, and sparkling pools.
The Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a specialist mountain location for a graduated climbing excursion and is better suited to more experienced mountaineers. It usually takes between 9 and 12 days to complete a trek in the Rwenzori Mountains, some of whose peaks reach heights of over 5,000 meters. These treks reward adventurous highland tourists with some of Africa's most breathtaking natural landscapes. Additionally, you will get an opportunity to take pictures of unusual, enormous botanical vegetation that is not seen anywhere else in the globe. The ice fields that were once here year-round for tens of thousands of years but are now fast melting owing to global warming may be visible as you ascend higher.
