Cairo American College
Cairo American College (CAC) is a friendly, independent day school that educates students from prekindergarten to grade 12, regardless of nationality.
CAC offers a variety of extracurricular activities and clubs to match different interests. Whether students like art, sports, languages, or want to join clubs like debating, writing, human rights, or math competitions, there's something for everyone.
The curriculum at CAC is based on the American system, covering traditional subjects such as Reading and Writing, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, World Languages, Arts, and Physical Education.
Students in grades 3-9 take MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) tests. In grades 11 and 12, the High School offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. High schoolers also participate in SAT and ACT assessments for college applications.
Enrollment in the IB Diploma Programme at CAC is open to all students meeting individual course prerequisites. Recommendations for enrollment in the IB Diploma or individual IB courses are made by teachers, counselors, and the IB Coordinator based on past academic performance. Course selections are typically made during the Spring Semester of Grade 10.
Students can choose to participate in the IB program in two ways: through the Diploma or individual course (formerly called "Certificate"). IB courses usually span two years and are primarily for Diploma candidates. If space is limited in an IB class, priority is given to Diploma candidates.
