Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel is a superhero movie based on the same-named Marvel Comics character. It is the twenty-first episode in the Marvel Universe and the ninth in the Phase Three film series. The film opened in theaters on 8 March, 2019. Based in the 1990s, Marvel Studios' "Captain Marvel" is an all-new adventure set during a previously unexplored era in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's past that chronicles Carol Danvers' transformation into one of the universe's most powerful heroes. While a cosmic battle between two alien civilizations hits Earth, Danvers and a small band of friends find themselves in the midst of the mayhem.

Captain Marvel achieved a number of firsts. It was the first Marvel film to include a female superhero in a lead role (Wasp teaming up with Ant-Man), as well as the first film set in the 1990s.

This enabled not just the introduction of a younger, kinder Nick Fury to the scene, but also the formation of an unexpected buddy combo between Carol Danvers and Fury. The film's blend of science fiction and humor succeeded, and it turned into a smash blockbuster, grossing over a billion dollars on a budget of just $160 million.
