Cardigan Welsh Corgi
One of two distinct dog breeds known as Welsh Corgis that originated in Wales is the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. The second type is the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. One of the earliest breeds to exist in the British Isles. The dog breed known as the Cardigan Welsh Corgi is recognized for its great loyalty. They are adaptable and can live in many environments. The sheepdog breed known as the Cardigan Corgi got its start thousands of years ago in Cardiganshire, south Wales. There is also where the name Cardigan Corgi originated. This dog breed was originally bred primarily for hunting small animals such as field mice, mink, foxes, etc. Later, the Welsh people trained them to guard and serve as guard dogs.
Cardigan Welsh Corgis take part in tracking, flyball, obedience, and dog agility competitions. Non-competitive herding tests can be used to assess a dog's trainability and herding instincts. It is possible to train corgis with basic herding skills to compete in herding trials.
In general, the Cardigan Corgi also has the best characteristics of the Corgi breed, including a fox-like face, a small head, a long body, short legs, huge, upright ears, and a pointed nose. Pembroke, Cardigan is a little bulkier and has a rounder physique. They stand about 30 cm tall and weigh 12 kg.
