Great Dane

The enormous dog breed known as the Great Dane originated in Germany. The Great Dane is a descendant of hunting dogs that were used in the Middle Ages to hunt deer and wild boar as well as serve as guard dogs for German royalty. Together with its relative, the Irish Wolfhound, it is one of the largest breeds in the world.

The Immense Dane combines great size and a muscular, well-formed, finely muscled body with strength, elegance, and a regal demeanor. It is one of the large working breeds, but it is special in that its overall structure must be so well-balanced that it never seems awkward as it moves, and it must move with a long reach and strong drive. Short-haired Great Danes have a powerful, galloping build.

The majority of the time, Great Danes get along nicely with other dogs, non-canine pets, and known people. The Fantastic Dane is a very kind and loving animal, and with the right care and training is great around children, especially when being reared with them. They typically do not exhibit severe aggressiveness or a high prey drive. A Great Dane may, like any dog, develop anxiety or aggression toward novel stimuli like strangers and unfamiliar situations if they are not properly socialized.
