Carlsberg
Carlsberg is a Danish multinational brewer, founded in 1847 by JC Jacobsen. Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, the company now has about 41,000 employees and branches, mainly in Western Europe, Russia and Asia.
The operations of the Carlsberg Group are divided among three market areas: Northern and Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and Asia. In Northern and Western Europe, Carlsberg acquired the Aldaris brewery in Riga, Latvia in 2008 and acquired 100% control of the Okocim Group including Okocim Brewery in 2004. This subsidiary owns four brewery with 1,250 employees. It is considered the third largest brewing company in Poland with 14.4% market share. In Eastern Europe, the largest brewery is located in the Czech city of Zatec where Saaz hops are grown - a noble hop that accounts for more than two-thirds of the total hop production in the Czech Republic. In Asia, Carlsberg started exporting beer to China in 1876 and co-owned two Chinese breweries in Huizhou and Shanghai in the late 1990s. Then, in 1995, the company bought returned to Huizhou Brewery in Guangdong Province and started supplying to both Mainland China and Hong Kong markets.
