Tryg

Tryg is a Scandinavian insurance provider with offices in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and other countries. In the Nordic nations, the firm is the biggest supplier of general insurance services.

The current Tryg was formed in 2002 through the merger of the insurance operations of Tryg Forsikring and Nordea. The company was listed on the Nasdaq OMX Copenhagen Stock Exchange in 2005. Tryg is managed by a two-tier system, in which the Supervisory Board and the Executive Board are responsible for managing the company's affairs.

The company is distributed across three national business regions in Denmark, Norway and Sweden: private, commercial, and corporate. Private offers a variety of insurance products, such as motorcycle, interior, house, accident, travel, motorbike, pets, and health insurance, to private clients in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. Additionally, also in the above three countries, commercial services provide insurance solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, including coverage for motorbikes, property, liability, workers' compensation, travel, and health. In the end, corporate provides coverage for a variety of insurance products, including those for property, liability, workers' compensation, transportation, collective life, and more. for business clients in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden under the Trygg-Hansa brand, as well as a collaboration arrangement with the worldwide RSA network for clients from abroad.

In November 2020, Tryg and Canadian insurer Intact Financial Corporation announced a joint offer to acquire RSA Insurance Corporation. This would correspond to a transaction worth around £7.2 billion in which Intact pays £3.0 billion and Tryg pays £4.2 billion.

If this transaction is approved, Tryg will retain RSA's Swedish and Norwegian operations, while Intact will retain RSA's Canadian and UK & International operations and obligations, and will co-owns RSA operations in Denmark with Intact. The closing of the two parties' acquisition of RSA is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2021 subject to receiving approval from the relevant antitrust and regulatory authorities.
