Orsted

Orsted, formerly DONG Energy, is the largest Danish multinational energy company with headquarters in Fredericia, Denmark.

Orsted considers Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands as its core operating markets. However, they also received leases from the Department of the Interior and Ocean Energy Administration contracts in 2015. In this lease, they ceded some American waters, specifically in New Jersey, for the construction of wind parks.

The business was the largest offshore wind developer by the number of offshore wind farms developed as of January 2022. If you exclude mainland China, Orsted is responsible for developing around 30% of all offshore wind plants. Orsted aims to surpass 95% by 2023 and 99% by 2025 of the energy company now generates globally from renewable sources. The company aims to generate zero electricity by 2025, as well as zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Orsted's shares are listed on the Nasdaq Copenhagen stock exchange with the majority of shares held by the Danish Government (50.1%). In addition, EuroPacific Development Fund, Capital Group Companies, and SEAS-NVE also hold more than 5% shares respectively. According to a political agreement, the Danish government will continue to hold a portion of the company's shares until 2025, after which time a political agreement between the parties is needed to lower the ownership ratio to less than 50%.
