Chia Te Bakery
Chen Tang-peng, the proprietor of Chia Te Bakery, was raised in a low-income fishing family and made the decision to start his own bakery after observing the neighborhood guys returning home with breads and cakes after working outside of town. She started working as a baker's apprentice in Ershuei Township, Changhua County, where she learnt how to make bread, pineapple cake, wife cakes, sun cakes, and mung bean moon cakes over the course of more than four years.
Chen started her baking career in Taipei when she was 18 years old. She began her own company at the age of 26 after mastering her craft at numerous renowned bakeries. The modest bakery gradually built a reputation that became the cornerstone of Chen's current success.
Chia Te is one of Taiwan's most well-known pineapple cake gift companies thanks to Chen's attention to detail in the kitchen. Chia Te took first place in a pineapple cake competition held in 2007 and sponsored by the Taipei Bakery Association and Taipei City Government.
