Chinese Culture and Contemporary China

The roots of Chinese civilization and the elements of Chinese culture will be explored in this Chinese Culture and Contemporary China course. It will focus on the link between Chinese culture and the Chinese people's daily lives, as well as the various parts of Chinese culture that are shaped by current social structures, belief systems, literature, art, and rituals. The course seeks to give students a better understanding of Chinese culture by presenting them with a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.

If students get the opportunity to visit Nanjing, they will also be asked to engage in an extracurricular buddy program. They will be partnered up in the ideal situation: an international student with a Nanjing University student, allowing them to learn about Chinese customs, culture, and language firsthand. Students will also be required to complete numerous projects and homework assignments, encouraging them to utilize Nanjing University and the city of Nanjing as a laboratory in which to apply what they learn while at Nanjing University.
