Climate Change Education

Climate Change Education, one of the most worthwhile Online Climate Change Courses to take, investigates the fundamental science of climate change and provides tools for teaching it in a positive, engaging, and participatory manner. The course also covers some of the ethical and social issues associated with climate change.

The IDB's "Rise-Up: Education Against Climate Change" initiative provided the videos, lesson plans, and online games used in this course. The goal is to help you launch Climate change education and actions in your school community to mitigate and adapt to climate change.

This is a hands-on course with real-world examples from Latin America and the Caribbean. Sixty-one percent of students who took the course say it improved their ability to develop, implement, and/or evaluate public policies. As public officials, 52 percent of students said the course helped them improve their services to citizens. Because this course is "self-paced," you can enroll at any time, even if it has been open for a while. You can take it whenever it is convenient for you during the course's enrollment period.

If you choose the Audit track, you will be able to complete the course for free and will have 10 weeks from the date you subscribed to do so. If you choose the Verified track, you will have unlimited access to the course and will be able to complete the qualified evaluations until the closing date, after making a $25 payment. If you pass, you will receive a digital badge *in addition to the verified certificate, which will allow you to change the way you share your academic and professional achievements, such as on social media.
