College of Southern Nevada
The College of Southern Nevada is the most significant public college in Nevada, offering various degrees and certificates to students in the southern part of the state, including Las Vegas. Currently, the college has more than 2,500 faculty and staff, serving a student population of 34,000 across three campuses in the Las Vegas Valley. Additional learning centers, including one at Niels Air Force Base for active military personnel, extend the college's outreach.
CSN is known among Nevada's online colleges and universities for its flexibility. Most students attend asynchronous part-time and online courses at CSN, meaning there are no set meeting times. The online offerings include four certificates and 21 associate degrees.
Students can explore various academic subjects such as business management, computing and IT, early childhood education, psychology, and world languages. Online students receive support through free tutoring and access to an online library and writing center.
CSN follows an open-door policy, welcoming anyone seeking post-secondary education, whether they pursue a full degree or take a few online courses. However, applicants need a high school diploma or GED certificate to declare a major. They must also submit high school transcripts and transcripts from previously attended colleges or universities.
Residents of Nevada benefit from lower tuition rates compared to nonresidents. Nonresidents from certain states may qualify for tuition discounts through the Western Undergraduate Exchange program or CSN's Good Neighbor program.
