Crane Currency

Zenas Crane, son of Stephen, learned the art of papermaking from his father and founded his own paper mill in 1801, catering mainly to banks, printers and shopkeepers. After he retired, he left the business to his sons, Zenas Marshall and James Brewer, and has seen marked growth since then. Zenas Marshall devised a method of dipping the silk thread vertically on the banknote as a way to mark the denomination of the bill.

It is no coincidence that a company exists for more than 200 years. The company has always remained committed to meeting the growing needs of its customers, providing quality, value-added products - and anticipating needs to develop and deliver solutions as needed. That continues to be the driving force behind Crane Currency to continue investing in research and development in pursuit of world-class technology.
