Cueva del Gigante

Cueva del Gigante cave is an archaeological site located in the La Paz district of the city of Marcala, Honduras. The site is important because it is the oldest archaeological site in Honduras, discovered by George Hasemann. According to archaeologists, the first inhabitants of the present-day region of Honduras and possibly of Central America lived around 9,480 BC in the "cave of the Giants." The Cueva del Gigante can be found just 500 meters from the waterfall called La Estanzuela, and it is 7 miles from the community of Marcala.
