Helene Caves
The Helene Caves are on the island of St. Helene, which is only separated from Roatan by a mangrove swamp. A gorgeous boat excursion, an exhilarating climb, a wealth of history, a stunning landscape, and much more can be found here.
The jungle that surrounds the cave has a mystical, mythical feel to it. When Hurricane Mitch pounded the island with category five winds for almost 48 hours in 1998, several Helene inhabitants sought refuge in this cave. If you are looking for a place to combine travel and discovery, this is probably the right place for you, because surrounding the cave is also a large forest for you to camp in and the vast sea, which is spoiled for experience here on summer days.
