This neighborhood Indian restaurant, which was formerly Epsom's best-kept secret, is now firmly established on the map as a result of the numerous prizes and commendations bestowed upon it since it first opened its doors in 2016. Dastaan has all the markings of a top London restaurant without the high price tags to match. It was founded by two chefs who formerly worked together at one of the capital's most talked-about Michelin star Indian restaurants.

Former head chef at the aforementioned Gymkhana Sanjay Gour makes up one half of the chef-patron duo. Gour, a skilled pastry chef of Modern Europe and a modern Indian cook, is renowned for his gorgeous desserts that are influenced by Indian sweets and his own country's intoxicating spices. Some of the restaurant's most well-known dishes, including as the muntjac biryani, keema pao, and roe deer chops, are credited to his counterpart, Nand Kishor, a former head chef of Gymkhana.

This powerful culinary team contributes their substantial skills to Dastaan's menu, which, in contrast to many other Indian eateries, is extensive yet condensed. As you take in the variety of curries on offer, start off with a few chaat (snacks) like panipuri, samosas, tikkas, and kebabs to whet your appetite. Carnivores will be delighted by options like butter chicken masala, duck chettinard, and hog vindaloo, while vegetarians will savor the variety of meat-free meals like paneer makhani, aubergine masala, and asparagus, pea, and Jerusalem artichoke biryani.

If you're still hungry after filling up on chaat, a hearty main dish, and the required carb overload of fluffy rice and buttery naan bread, there are a few desserts to choose from, including silky kulfi and syrup-drenched gulab jamun.
