De Villiers
This chocolatier is housed in a historic Cape Dutch home in Paarl, South Africa's Spice Route. They make 100 percent African chocolates with cocoa acquired ethically and responsibly from small-scale farmers in Western Uganda's Bundibugyo region.
The Chocolatier's goal is to make chocolate available to everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions. As a result, Pieter set himself the difficult task of inventing a sugar-free option that tasted as good as the rest of the De Villiers Chocolate goods. He chose ingredients that closely resemble the sensory profile of sugar while maintaining the De Villiers Chocolate experience at the forefront of his new creations. Lactose and gluten intolerant chocolate lovers will like these treats as well.
De Villiers is one of the few UTZ-certified chocolatiers in Africa. All De Villiers Chocolate bars are Rainforest Alliance Certified, demonstrating support for a mission that ensures a brighter future for both man and nature. In addition, the chocolate producer is the only South African chocolate company whose chocolates have been approved by the International Vegan Society.
