Denzel Washington
Denzel Hayes Washington Jr. (born December 28, 1954) is an actor, director, and producer from the United States. He has been regarded as an actor who "reconfigured the notion of classic cinema stardom" for his performances on the film and stage. He has worked with filmmakers such as Spike Lee, Antoine Fuqua, and Tony Scott on several occasions. He has received two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Tony Award. He earned the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. The New York Times named him the finest actor of the twenty-first century in 2020.
In 2010, he received the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for his role in the Broadway version of August Wilson's play Fences. Washington then directed, produced, and acted in the 2016 film adaption, which received four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor for Washington. He also produced Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, which was adapted into a film (2020). In 2014, he participated in the Broadway revivals of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun and Eugene O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh.
