Robert Downey
Robert John Downey Jr. is a producer and actor from the United States. His career has been marked by critical and popular success in his youth, followed by a time of substance misuse and legal problems, before resuming commercial success later in his career. Time magazine named Downey one of the 100 most important persons in the world in 2008, while Forbes ranked him Hollywood's highest-paid actor from 2013 to 2015.
Bond completion providers initially refused to cover Downey unless Mel Gibson paid the insurance bond for the 2003 picture The Singing Detective. He also appeared in the black comedy Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), the thriller Zodiac (2007), and the action-comedy Tropic Thunder (2008), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Downey rose to international prominence as Tony Stark / Iron Man in 10 Marvel Studios films, beginning with Iron Man (2008). He also starred as Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes (2009), for which he won his second Golden Globe, and in its sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011).
